On the days you can barely begin

Some days the most courageous thing you can do is start very, very small.

April 7, 2026·4 min read

There will be days when the gap between where you are and where you need to be feels impossible. Not difficult. Impossible. Like the first step is too far away to reach.

On those days, the smallest possible action is enough. Not starting well. Just starting.

Open the app. Sit down somewhere soft. Put something quiet on. That's it. You don't have to feel ready. You don't have to feel good. You just have to find the tiniest next thing and do that.

Why this works

Action changes your state. Not big action — any action. The body follows the motion. Once you've done the tiny thing, the next tiny thing becomes visible. And then the next. This is not about momentum. It's about permission.

You are allowed to have hard days. You are allowed to begin badly. You are allowed to do the smallest version of what needs to happen and count it as enough. Because today, it is.

If this resonated — Ember might be for you.
